20th India International Seafood Show 2016 is one of the largest Seafood Fairs in Asia. It is a biennial show and a common forum for Seafood processors, Exporters, Importers, Aquaculturists, Processing Machinery manufacturers and allied industries to meet under one roof. The show attracts a large number of seafood trading people and enables them to find out suitable means of strengthening the seafood trade for mutual benefits.
The 20th Edition of IISS would be organized at Port Trust Diamond Jubilee Stadium here from September 23-25, according to the MPEDA, which comes under the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
More than 300 stalls would be arranged in the exhibition and 3,000 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate, according to Deputy Director Ansar Ali, in charge of the local branch of the MPEDA. The IISS would focus on safe and sustainable aquaculture and the seminars would highlight the latest technological advances and sustainable practices.
The outlook for aqua exports during the current financial year (2016-17) was quite good, with the MPEDA expecting exports of $5.6 billion with increased vannamei shrimp production and diversification of species. Andhra Pradesh would continue to lead in cultured shrimp production and exports, he said.
During 2015-16, seafood exports from the country amounted to 9,45,892 tonnes valued at Rs.30,420.83 crores and during 2014-15 the respective figures were 10,51,243 tonnes and Rs.33,444.61 crore.
